Aurora police are searching for a driver who fled after hitting and seriously injuring 13-year-old boy as he tried to cross the street Wednesday evening in the western suburb. The boy was trying to cross Talma Street at 5th Avenue about 5 p.m. when the Nissan Pathfinder hit him, police spokesman Dan Ferrelli said. He was left with serious head trauma, but the driver continued eastbound on 5th Avenue and fled onto northbound Jackson Street, Ferrelli said. Police on Tuesday said they are looking for a maroon Hyundai Sonata that fatally struck a woman in a Bridgeport hit-and-run last week. The car struck the woman -- identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office as 21-year-old Carissa Hinz -- about 11 p.m. June 14 in the 3200 block of South Morgan Street, police said. Hinz, of the 3300 block of South Lowe Avenue, was dead on the scene, authorities said. An autopsy determined Hinz died from multiple injuries from a vehicle striking a pedestrian and the death was ruled an accident, according to the medical examiner’s office. …

A 21-year-old woman who’d been working as a barista and aspired to a career as a graphic artist was killed late Friday in a hit-and-run crash in Bridgeport.
