MAKES 8 APPETIZER SERVINGS

2 cups TSP chunks

2 cups boiling water

2 tablespoons ketchup, plus 1/3 cup

1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed

2 tablespoons dark sesame oil

2 tablespoons soy sauce

2 teaspoons five spice powder

In a medium bowl combine TSP, boiling water and 2 tablespoons ketchup. Cover and microwave on medium for 10 minutes. Or combine ingredients in a medium saucepan and simmer over a low flame for 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, combine remaining ingredients in a small saucepan and heat over a medium flame. When sauce reaches a boil, remove from heat and add to TSP. Mix well and allow to marinate for 30 minutes.

Transfer chunks and sauce to a shallow baking dish. Microwave on medium power for 5 minutes, or bake in a preheated 350-degree oven for 15 minutes. Serve as an appetizer with toothpicks, or over pasta, rice or couscous.

Note: This also could serve 4 as a main dish over pasta or rice.
