Coast's tropical seviche

May 21, 2003

MAKES 2 TO 4 SERVINGS

4 large, fresh scallops, diced

Juice of 2 limes

1/2 cup diced cooked octopus

4 large boiled shrimp, diced

1 tablespoon chopped cilantro

1 teaspoon thinly sliced jalapeno

Salt and pepper to taste

1 tablespoon finely diced mango

4 sesame crackers

2 to 3 thin slices star fruit

Toss together scallops and lime juice in a medium bowl; let sit 5 minutes so juice can "cook" scallops.

Add octopus, shrimp, cilantro, jalapeno, salt and pepper; toss, and then gently stir in mango. Serve with sesame crackers, garnished with star fruit.

Note: To save a step in this recipe, sesame crackers have been substituted for the thin, fried sesame crisps used at Coast.
