1 and 1/2 pounds flank steak
1/2 cup barbecue sauce (recipe follows)
Cut steak on the diagonal (against the grain) into 1/4-inch-wide strips; cut very long strips in half. Place in a glass dish and pour barbecue sauce on top. Toss meat to coat with sauce. Marinate for 20 to 30 minutes at room temperature (don't marinate longer, or meat will take on too much of the sauce's flavor).
Grill over hot coals (or on a stove-top grill, or broil), turning once, until meat is nicely browned and cooked to at least medium doneness.
