Rainbow Cake

3/4 pound butter

2 and 1/2 cup sugar

4 eggs

5 cups sifted cake flour

3 teaspoons baking powder

1 and 1/4 cup milk

1 teaspoon almond extract

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

green, red and yellow food coloring

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift flour with baking powder. Add alternately with milk, beating until smooth and light after each addition. Add both extracts.

Place one quarter of the batter in another bowl and color it green. Place one quarter of the batter in another bowl and color it pink. Color the rest yellow. Pour half of the yellow dough into well greased and floured tube pan. Pour green batter over this. , then the pink, then the remainder of the yellow. Bake in a 325-degree oven for 1 and 1/2 hours or until the cake tests done.
