MAKES 65 COOKIES

1 pound chocolate-flavored candy coating (see Note)

1 tablespoon solid vegetable shortening

3 drops peppermint candy flavoring (see Note)

65 Ritz crackers

Melt chocolate coating according to package directions. Stir in shortening and flavoring. Dip crackers in chocolate to coat and place on a wax paper-lined baking sheet until chocolate is solidified. Store in airtight container.

Note: Chocolate candy coating discs as well as the peppermint flavoring can be found at most hobby or craft stores carrying cake- and candymaking supplies. Chocolate candy coating is also known as almond bark and can be found at most grocery stores in the baking aisle.
