The holiday season means it’s time for cookies. And although you may have your tried-and-true recipes you use year after year, who doesn’t have room for a couple more outstanding selections?
Today we’re answering urgent requests for “unique-but-pumpkin-flavored” cookies (from D.W. of Chicago) and for a lemon-flavored chewy sugar cookie (from A.T. of University Park).
Delectable solutions are Cream Cheese-Filled Pumpkin Spice Cookies from The Old Farmer’s Almanac Everyday Baking cookbook and Swap Shop’s favorite Old-Fashioned Sugar Cookies recipe from Martha Stewart.
The soft, fragrant Pumpkin Spice Cookies — created by celebrated baker Ken Haedrich — are delish plain, but the cream cheese filling makes the cookies unique, gift-giving pretty and heavenly.
Stewart’s large (3½-inch diameter) sugar cookies, flavor-enhanced with lemon juice and zest, are stunning with their glistening, crackly tops created by sprinkling two layers of sanding sugar.
