Amish oatmeal

MAKES 6 SERVINGS

1½ cups quick oats

½ cup sugar

½ cup milk

1/4 cup margarine or butter, melted

1 egg

1 teaspoon baking powder

3/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla

Warm milk

Fresh fruit and/or brown sugar, optional

Combine oats, sugar, milk, margarine or butter, egg, baking powder, salt and vanilla; mix well. Spread evenly in greased 13-inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Immediately spoon into bowls; add milk. If desired, top with fruit and/or brown sugar.
