Beer bread


MAKES 10 SERVINGS

4 cups flour

2 tablespoons baking powder

2/3 cup sugar

12 ounces beer, room temperature

2 eggs, slightly beaten

1 tablespoon melted butter, if desired

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine flour, baking powder and sugar. Slowly mix in beer and eggs. Stir just until blended. Bake in a 9-by-5-by-3-inch loaf pan for 50 minutes. Brush top of bread with 1 tablespoon melted butter, if desired. Remove from pan. Nutrition facts per serving: 269 calories, 2 g fat, 1 g saturated fat, 45 mg cholesterol, 51 g carbohydrates, 6 g protein, 168 mg sodium, 1 g fiber
