Guacamole en molcajete


MAKES 4 SERVINGS

1/2 teaspoon garlic, finely minced

1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons serrano peppers, finely chopped (see note)

1 1/2 tablespoons white onion, chopped

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 avocado, diced

2 tablespoons diced plum tomatoes, seeded

1 1/2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped

1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lime juice

Using a wood spoon or pestle, mash the garlic, serrano peppers, onion and salt in a molcajete until ingredients release their juices.

Add avocado and mix. Add tomatoes, cilantro and lime juice. Stir all ingredients; serve with tortilla chips.

Note: Use 1 teaspoon serrano peppers for mild guacamole or 1 1/2 teaspoons for hot guacamole.
