Still in the gloamin’. October 3, 1938
Cubs catcher Gabby Hartnett leads the team’s victory parade down LaSalle Street after the Cubs won the pennant. Hartnett’s famous “homer in the gloamin’” set up the pennant for the Cubs. Hartnett took over as manager of the Cubs in late July and willed the team from fourth place to first. The parade started at Wrigley Field and headed downtown.
