Early glimpse of greatness.
Jesse Owens, a senior at Cleveland East Technical High School, arrives at the Interscholastic Championships at Soldier Field in August 1932. Owens tied the world record in the 100-yard dash with a time of 9.4 seconds and set several high school records. Four years later, he dominated the Summer Olympic Games in Berlin by winning four gold medals.
