To be or not to be Harry Potter

July 12, 2007

The Review talked to Deerfield/Lincolnshire area students attending summer school classes about Potter-mania. "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" by J.K. Rowling is the seventh and final book about the adventures of a boy wizard and his friends. It will be released July 21. We asked students whether they would like to be Harry or live in his world.

"Yes. It would be fun because my Mom wouldn't have to worry about me using the stove, I could just use my wand to cook things."
Liora Kupfer, eighth grade, Solomon Schecter Middle School
"It depends on what character you are because if you were Harry people might be after you trying to kill you all the time."
Kyle Adkins, fifth grade, Wilmot School
"I don't know. I think it would be kind of scary with all the death-eaters and Voldemort. But it would be a lot easier to clean your room if you had a magic wand."
Ellen Kerschke, seventh grade, Holy Cross School
"Yes. You could use floo powder to go anywhere you want."
Hannah Sugarman, fifth grade, Walden School
"No. Magic is awesome. But Voldemort; not so awesome."
Joey Bloom, fifth grade, South Park School
