QUARTERBACK   Jay Cutler made enough plays early to give the Bears a working lead. He was 16-for-31 for 150 yards, 1 TD, 0 INTs but 7-for-15 for 77 yards after suffering a rib injury. Grade: C+

RUNNING BACK Matt Forte (22-96) had a 39-yard run in the first quarter that led to a TD. Michael Bush added 36 yards on six carries. Grade: B

RECEIVERS  Brandon Marshall made key third-down catches and had a 7-yard TD catch. But it was a struggle to get the ball to Devin Hester (3-38) and Earl Bennett (3-37). Grade: C

OFFENSIVE LINE The Bears rushed for 172 yards on 31 carries, but when Cutler gets hurt on a sack, it’s not a good day. Gabe Carimi had two more penalties, but he wasn’t the only lineman who had a tough night. Grade: C

DEFENSIVE LINE  Henry Melton (forced fumble) Stephen Paea (sack) and Amobi Okoye were strong up the middle again as the Bears pitched a shutout until the final 30 seconds. Grade: A

LINEBACKERS Lance Briggs made one of several big plays with a forced fumble late in the first half. Brian Urlacher showed some of his old spark with a pass deflection on a blitz and a tackle for loss. Grade: A

DEFENSIVE BACKS  Charles Tillman set the tone with a pass breakup against Calvin Johnson on the first play as the Bears kept the Lions All-Pro in check the entire game. Chris Conte forced the issue with several good blitzes. D.J. Moore added a late INT. G

SPECIAL TEAMS  Hester struggled again to get anything going in the return game. But Zack Bowman made a big play with a fumble recovery of a muffed punt in the third quarter. Bennett cleanly handled an onside kick in the final minute. Grade: B-

COACHING  Coming off a bye, the Bears showed few signs of rust. The game plan was solid on both sides of the ball, particularly on defense. The offense was not at its best, but the Bears did not have a giveaway. Even one could have been disastrous. Grade:
