After one of the most trumpeted classes in recent memory – fueled by two can’t miss quarterbacks – the NFL Draft returns to reality this year.
The perception is that the clubs at the top of the order can’t give away the choices.
That gives teams in and around the middle of the first round hope that they may be able to trade their selections and collect more, some even preferring picks in 2014, which features a number of prominent players.
Bears general manager Phil Emery hasn’t been shy about broadcasting his interest in trading down since he only has five selections. During free agency, Emery aggressively addressed glaring positions of need to ensure the Bears can be as flexible as possible to take either the best available player, regardless of position, or to trade down and scoop up an extra pick or two.
Much will change in the coming weeks, until the draft starts the evening of April 25. But the Sun-Times will frequently update its mock draft. CLICK HERE or the gallery to see our NFL Mock Draft.
