The Bears score two touchdowns seconds apart, kick a game-winning, walk-off field goal to move to 6-1 on the season, and all anyone can talk about in the hours after the thrilling 23-22 comeback victory on Sunday over the Panthers is Jay Cutler’s poor attitude.
The Bears quarterback put himself squarely in the Monday morning discussion with a derogatory comment he apparently mumbled about the Soldier Field fans as he ran into the tunnel at halftime to a chorus of boos. Cameras captured Cutler looking up into the stands, shaking his head and apparently mouthing two “f” words, one of which was “fans.”
“I would boo us, too,” Cutler told “Waddle & Silvy” on ESPN 1000 during his Monday show. “It was ugly. Rightfully so, we got booed. It was a lousy performance. Hopefully, we come back on Sunday night, and we’ll be better.”
When asked if he was mad at the fans, Cutler said: “No, I was mad at my performance.”
When pressed as to what he said, Cutler joked: “Are we in court? I’m not going to get involved. ... I don’t really recall at that moment.”
After accumulating -5 net passing yards in the the first quarter, Cutler came through in the fourth quarter, connecting on 12 of 14 passes for 106 yards.
