| Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) |
Under the federal No Child Left Behind Act, all public schools must have 100 percent of tested students meet state standards in reading and math by 2014. In the interim, states must set gradually increasing targets. This year in Illinois, a school is deemed to be making Adequate Yearly Progress if it meets the following conditions:
- At least 95 percent tested in reading and mathematics for every student group.
- At least 55 percent of all tested students must meet or exceed state standards on the reading and math tests.
- A subgroup that falls below 55 percent can claim "safe harbor" from falling adequate yearly progress if its percent of kids meeting or exceeding state standards improves by 10 percent from the previous year.
- High schools must have a graduation rate of at least 72 percent.
- Elementary, junior high and middle schools must have an attendance rate of at least 90 percent.
- Click here for complete AYP guidelines.
This school has not met all of the requirements for adequate yearly progress because:
- Only 17.5 percent of all students meet or exceed state reading standards.
- Only 6.3 percent of all students meet or exceed state math standards.
- Only 17.7 percent of black students meet or exceed state reading standards.
That did not meet the safe harbor target of 36.9 percent.
- Only 6.5 percent of black students meet or exceed state math standards.
That did not meet the safe harbor target of 20.9 percent.
- Only 17.1 percent of low-income students meet or exceed state reading standards.
That did not meet the safe harbor target of 36.7 percent.
- Only 7.2 percent of low-income students meet or exceed state math standards.
That did not meet the safe harbor target of 20.4 percent.
- The school's graduation rate was only 60.8 percent.
This school has been identified for school improvement
54.6 percent of the schools in the district and 13.1 percent of the schools in the state are in school improvement status. Schools receiving federal poverty funds are identified for school improvement if they have had two consecutive years without adequate yearly progress and triggers choice transfers. Two years in school improvement status triggers choice transfers. Three years on school improvement triggers additional tutoring at the school, and four years on school improvement triggers additional corrective action at the school. Schools need two consecutive years of adequate yearly progress to get off the school improvement list.

Due to the way Illinois school districts are configured, state averages for equalized assessed valuation per pupil and total school tax rate per $100 are not provided.
EAV (Equalized assessed valuation) includes all computed property values upon which a district's local tax rate is calculated.
Total school tax rate is a district's total tax rate as it appears on local property tax bills.
Instructional expenditure per pupil includes the direct costs of teaching pupils or the interaction between teachers and pupils.
Operating expenditure per pupil includes the gross operating cost of a school district excluding summer school, adult education, bond principal retired, and capital expenditures.

| Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) Guidelines | |
Under the federal No Child Left Behind Act, all public schools must have 100 percent of their tested students meet state standards in (making Adequate Yearly Progress in) reading and math by 2014. In the interim, states must set gradually increasing targets to ensure that goal will be met. This year in Illinois, a school is deemed to be making adequate yearly progress if it meets all of the following conditions:
1. At least 95 percent tested in reading and mathematics for every student group. If the current year participation rate is less than 95 percent, this condition may be met if the average of the current and preceding year rates is at least 95 percent, or if the average of the current and two preceding years is at least 95 percent. Only actual participation rates are printed. If the participation rate printed is less than 95 percent and yet this school makes AYP, it means that the 95 percent condition was met by averaging.
2. At least 55.0 percent meeting/exceeding standards in reading and mathematics for every group. For any group with less than 55.0 percent meeting/exceeding standards, a 95 percent confidence interval was applied. Subgroups may meet this condition through Safe Harbor provisions. ***
3. For schools not making AYP solely because the IEP group fails to have 55.0 percent meeting/exceeding standards, 14 percent may be added to this variable in accordance with the federal 2 percent flexibility provision.
4. At least 90 percent attendance rate for non-high schools and at least 72 percent graduation rate for high schools.
* Includes only students enrolled as of 05/01/2006.
** Safe Harbor Targets of 55.0 percent or above are not printed.
*** Subgroups with fewer than 45 students are not reported. Safe Harbor only applies to subgroups of 45 or more. In order for Safe Harbor to apply, a subgroup must decrease by 10 percent the percentage of scores that did not meet state standards from the previous year plus meet the other indicators (attendance rate for non-high schools and graduation rate for high schools) for the subgroup. For subgroups that do not meet their Safe Harbor Targets, a 75 percent confidence interval is applied. Safe Harbor allows schools an alternate method to meet subgroup minimum targets on achievement.
