That's what Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick, in essence, told Charlie Weis when he announced Weis would be back for a fifth season but is guaranteed nothing beyond.

Four months ago, Devin Hester was hailed as a potential No. 1 wide receiver after receiving a $40 million contract extension. Rashied Davis, Marty Booker and rookie third-round pick Earl Bennett were considered solid pieces for an offense on the move.
The Hawks took advantage when Kris Versteeg slipped a backhand pass to Jonathan Toews for the winning goal with 1:35 left in the third period. Dave Bolland added an empty-netter to give the Hawks a 4-2 win that snapped their three-game losing streak. They're now 7-1-4 at the UC.'re now 7-1-4 at the UC.

Republic Windows & Doors, once an emblem of corporate expansion on Goose Island, said it must shut down Friday because of inability to get financing. It said more than 200 jobs will be eliminated. Amy Zimmerman, vice president of sales and marketing at Republic, said the shutdown was forced by Bank of America Corp., which withdrew a credit line because of the manufacturer's declining sales. The decision brought two busloads of Republic's unionized work force to Bank of America's Chicago headquarters, 231 S. La Salle.
