Metro & Tri-state Community pays respects to Adrian
Adrian Jones had just turned 16 and decided to get rid of "Bart," his nickname, because he didn't want girls confusing him with the cartoon character of the same name. So he told his uncle he'd settled on "A.J. Killer." "Every time I'd come over to [see Jones], he'd say, 'Hey, Uncle Pudge,' and I'd say 'Hey, Bart -- oh, sorry, Mr. Killer,' " recalled Donald "Pudge" Jones. "We'd just bust up laughing about it every time."

Sports 'Small ball' nets 1st road win The Bulls beat the Golden State Warriors at their own game Friday night, using a ridiculously small lineup to finally break through on the road this season with a 115-110 win at Oracle Arena. It was a far cry from Wednesday, when the Bulls were overwhelmed by the bigger Portland Trail Blazers in a 42-point loss. This time, Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro didn't have to watch his big men get outplayed because he hardly played any.
Wildcats looking to pin Illini Maybe Pete Weber or Carmen Salvino can roll the coin before the Illinois-Northwestern game today. That's because it will be all about going bowling -- postseason bowl games -- when the fatted Cats (8-3, 4-3 Big Ten) host the upstreaming Illini (5-6, 3-4) at winter-ready Ryan Field (2:30, BTN, 720-AM, 560-AM).
If Williams is in, then who's out? Brad Biggs: The trick with getting first-round draft pick Chris Williams on the field, besides finding the right opportunity, is picking someone to send to the bench. When Williams got his first action of the year on offense last Sunday at Green Bay -- five plays on the final drive -- the odd man out was left guard Josh Beekman. Williams entered, and left tackle John St. Clair was kicked inside to Beekman's spot to make room.

Lifestyles Frugality is among Oprah's favorite things She might be one of the wealthiest celebrities with an estimated worth of $2.5 billion, but that doesn't mean that Oprah Winfrey can't be frugal in these difficult economic times. Naysayers who still think we aren't in a recession need look no further than Winfrey's annual "Favorite Things" list of gifts.

Entertainment Mag: Chicago Symphony No. 1 in U.S., No. 5 in world Andrew Patner: What would happen if a leading British-based music magazine ranked the world's leading orchestras and the "winning" U.S. ensemble didn't care? That's basically what's happened when leaders of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra shrugged their collective shoulders over the London monthly the Gramophone saying that it's the top classical outfit in the United States.
