Romney insurance implication scary

Mitt Romney has objected that his comment about liking to fire people was taken out of context, but perhaps the context, if it had been more widely publicized, would have been his bigger problem. He seemed to be proposing a world in which we would all buy our health insurance unassisted and, if we found ourselves dissatisfied, say, with the way our provider was covering our costs for chemotherapy, would be free to fire him and go elsewhere for coverage. To most people, at least those not so rich that they don’t have to worry about fighting with insurance companies, that would seem to be a nightmare scenario. It is certainly not anything like the system Romney installed in Massachusetts.

Not envy, Mitt, but outrage
Mitt Romney said that those who criticize him and his wealthy business associates are demonstrating “envy” and disdain for their “success.”
What Mitt sees as envy is really anger at those who achieved their “success” while stepping on the throats of those with less wealth and power. Making billions while causing others to lose their jobs, homes, savings and pensions is inexcusable. No one envies these predators. Their success has been gained at the cost of losing their humanity.

It’s not just Stroger
Cook County voters rightfully threw Todd Stroger out of office but at what price? Stroger was a sacrificial lamb because of of his incredible incompetence. A mere $45 million has been squandered for something called Project Shield which has yielded dubious results? Who else is accountable for this? Bureaucrats running amok in city, county and state government in Illinois are responsible, that’s who.

Where was County Board?
I think Carol Marin [“Todd Stroger’s Weird Radio Facts,” Wednesday] did a fine job of showing us how inept Todd Stroger really was with regards to handling $45 million for anti-terrorism security.
In addition to Todd Stroger, what about the rest of the commissioners? Did they not know what was going on with the money? Isn’t Commissioner John Daley, ex-Mayor Richard Daley’s brother, in charge of finances? Did no one question where the money went?
No wonder Cook County is known as Crook County. All these inept people know is “give me my paycheck and pension.” Shame on all of them!
