In a Sunday editorial, the Sun-Times stated that “the Legislature approved and sent to Gov. Pat Quinn a bill that would legalize the concealed carry of guns in Illinois in an alarmingly free and dangerous manner.” Clearly, you do not support our state and federal constitutions when they state that “the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” It would be more accurate if you had said law-abiding citizens should not have a legal right to defend themselves by using deadly force when their lives are in danger.
You also failed to mention that 102 out of 103 Illinois sheriffs voted to endorse concealed carry. Why? They realize from experience that many people are injured and killed by criminals before the police can get to the scene.
You really should reconsider your historic support of the Chicago political machine regarding this issue.
My wife and daughter have a God-given and legal right to be able to defend themselves. It saddens me that many women have lost their honor and lives due to the fact that the lawbreakers here know that they are unarmed and easy prey.

With respect to the Illinois General Assembly’s failure to pass legislation on gay marriage, guns or pensions:
It’s not about gay or straight, it’s not about whether you, your family or your friends have ever been a victim of gun violence, and it’s not about whether you have worked your whole life and depend on a pension for income. It’s about how any legislation can benefit the politician, his friends and his family.
When will the people of Illinois and Chicago wake up?

GOP change of mind?
On Sunday in the Sun-Times, conservative columnist John Fund explained that Barack Obama is a terrible president because he came out of Chicago’s “sick political culture.” And all this time they had been telling us it’s because he’s a secret Muslim marxist who wasn’t really born in Hawaii.
