We have heard what the Republicans offered us: new promises. And the Democrats offered us: more promises.

But look at what’s happening around us — nothing. Unemployment everywhere; families are suffering; new graduates don’t know where to go.

America has gotten numb to all these promises, and the American people are now screaming. We’re not gonna take this anymore!

Domestic violence is not funny

How ironic. On the very day that stories about Drew Peterson occupy several pages of the Chicago Sun-Times, the Pulse section includes a classic example of domestic violence in “Daddy’s Home.”

Pushing and threatening to punch one’s spouse are not entertaining. Perhaps this particular strip could have been included among the Peterson stories as an educational tool.

Drew Peterson’s kids are victims, too

While I believe justice was served with the guilty verdict in the trial of Drew Peterson, I can’t help but wonder about what will happen to his children.

The lives of Kathleen Savio’s and Stacy Peterson’s children are forever changed by tragic events during their short lifetimes.

The loss of their mothers was catastrophic enough.

Now they live with the knowledge that their father is guilty of murder.

Regardless of how one feels about Drew Peterson — or his guilt or innocence — you can’t help but wonder what the future holds for these innocent kids caught up in a situation that no doubt affects them now and will continue to do so for the rest of their lives.
