Joliet-filmed ad airs during game
JOLIET -- A piece of Joliet is showing up in telecasts of the Cubs' playoff series with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
A television commercial filmed at Silver Cross Field with Cubs Manager Lou Piniella was first aired Wednesday night.
The commercial for Aquafina bottled water features Piniella in a comical argument with an umpire.
Joliet JackHammers fans will have to look closely to find signs of the hometown field, however. The film crew was in Joliet in August to film the commercial with Piniella, Cubs infielder Mark DeRosa and J.J. Hardy of the Milwaukee Brewers. But the cameras were hauled to Wrigley Field the next day to shoot background scenes to make the action look like it took place on the Cubs' home turf.
Originally scheduled to run in the spring, the commercial was moved up once the Cubs made the playoffs.
"We actually decided to break the ad early, and you're going to be seeing it through the playoff series," said Michelle Naughton, associate manager for public relations at Pepsi-Cola North America, which owns Aquafina.
The ad will run nationally and not only during Cubs games, Naughton said. It will be in three slots, including the Cubs game, during tonight's playoff action.
