Metra Board member William Widmer is the latest to announce he wants out of the troubled agency — just weeks after a group suburban Cook County Board members urged him to quit.
A group of six suburban Cook County Board members had drafted a resolution seeking resignation letters from Widmer and fellow Metra Board members Arlene Mulder and Don De Graff. In late August, one of those Cook County Board members, Liz Gorman, said a “clean slate” is needed to restore public confidence in Metra.
The suburban Cook County Board members announced Wednesday that Widmer would not seek to be reappointed but would continue to serve until a replacement is named.
The suburban board members announced a public meeting to select a replacement, set for 1 p.m. Oct. 1, in the Cook County Board room.
