O’Hare, Midway expect increases over last year for Memorial Day travel

Updated: May 22, 2013 5:58PM

This Friday is projected to be the busiest day of the Memorial Day weekend at O’Hare International Airport, with some 269,000 passengers expected, officials said Wednesday.

Chicago Department of Aviation spokeswoman Karen Pride advised travelers to arrive at least two hours early throughout the holiday travel period, Thursday through Tuesday — but also every day.

Compared to last year, O’Hare anticipates a 2 percent increase in passengers over the five-day period, and Midway, a 3 percent rise, aviation department officials said. Watch for special events and discounts for military personnel at O’Hare over the holiday.
