A second day of rush hour commutes following the Red Line South shutdown seemed to flow without incident Tuesday as CTA officials revealed that hits to their online Red Line help site have skyrocketed in recent days.

The number of page views to redlinesouth.com doubled between Friday and Monday — the first week day after the Red Line was shut down Sunday, from Cermak to 95th Street, for a major rebuild.

On Monday alone, more than 12,000 people turned to redlinesouth.com for help that includes a trip planner and alternative service maps. Since it was created last year, the site has experienced more than 253,400 page views, said CTA spokeswoman Tammy Chase.

“It demonstrates the comfort level that a large number of our customers have using online technology,’’ Chase said. “It’s not for everyone, but more and more people are comfortable with it.’’

Through the beginning of Tuesday’s evening rush, Chase said, the reroutes caused by track work on Red Line South experienced no service disruptions or delays.

“We’re happy about it, but it’s not very exciting newspaper reading,’’ Chase said.

Red Line riders Tuesday continued to be bowled over by free express shuttle buses that take commuters from the Red Line’s four most southern stops directly to and from the Garfield Green Line station, where all L rides are free until the reconstruction ends Oct. 19.

“They are using buses that are new, they’re clean, they’re safe – they smell good,’’ said April Lawson, a South Sider who works in public relations downtown. “It could be so much worse. And they’re not asking me to pay for it.’’
