Fog and low visibility has dissipated in the Chicago area after causing flight delays at O’Hare and Midway airports Monday morning.

Dense fog left the area about 1 p.m. as temperatures rose Monday, said National Weather Service meteorologist Charles Mott, adding that the temperature at O’Hare International Airport is currently at 69 degrees.

Patches of fog remain in the Waukegan area, Mott said.

Thunderstorms are expected in the Chicago area between 6 p.m.- 11 p.m., Mott said. In northwest Indiana, thunderstorms are expected until about 2 a.m. or 3 a.m.

Winds are expected to gust to about 30 miles per hour under mostly cloudy skies throughout Monday, the NWS said.

Winds are expected to die down about Midnight or 1 a.m. as storms leave the Chicago area, Mott said.

Due to breezy southerly winds, temperatures will remain in the mid to upper 60s with areas south of Interstate 80 climbing to 70 degrees, the NWS said.
