CTA’s Granville L station to close as part of North Side rehab project

If you get on or off the L at Granville, it’s time to find another station.
The station will be closed at 11:59 p.m. Friday, and won’t re-open for another six weeks.
It’s the first of seven stations to be rehabilitated as part of the CTA’s Red North Interim Station Improvement Project.
As some of the oldest on the system, Granville, Morse, Thorndale, Argyle, Berwyn, Lawrence and Jarvis are being upgraded. Most were built in the early 1900s.
Work will include maintenance to the station houses, platform, tracks and viaducts.
While the Granville station is closed, Red Line customers are being directed to use either the nearby Thorndale or Loyola stations, two and three blocks away.
Riders can also take a bus instead. The No. 147 Outer Drive Express buses can be used to get to the Loyola station via Sheridan Road.
