The Blago File ...
There was a lighthearted moment shortly before former Gov. Rod Blagojevich was handed a 14-year prison sentence Wednesday.
◆ To wit: Blago’s wife, Patti, jokingly turned to pregnant Sun-Times federal court reporter Natasha Korecki, who is this-close to giving birth, and whispered: “I hope your water breaks today.”
◆ Ah, levity: “It was what everybody else has been telling me and it was very funny,” Korecki told Sneed. “Patti was also laughing, and I think she was saying it as a form of ‘Help, get us out of here soon.’”
◆ P.S. Patti’s brother, Richie Mell, who sat by his sister throughout the sentencing, chimed in by jokingly offering to buy Natasha some spicy Mexican food.
The Blago File II ...
Doggone: In addition to suggesting his daughters name a new puppy “Daddy” for company while their real father is behind bars, Blago — who looked at pooches with his family at the PAWS Adopt-A-Thon event this weekend — also told daughter, Amy: “Dogs never disappoint. People do.”
◆ The dog would also be a pal for their current canine, Skittles.
◆ Stay tuned: The Blago family is due back at the shelter Friday to re-visit the 8-week-old stray puppy.
◆ P.S. Channel 2’s legendary anchor Walter Jacobson and wife, Susan, also adopted a golden retriever puppy this week.

◆ Sneed made about 85 cents an hour for selling movie theater popcorn at the age of 15 in 1958.
◆ The 15-year old actress Abigail Breslin’s hourly rate for four hours of voice work on the new animated movie “Zambezia” is $16,250. That’s a total of $65,000.
A Marin memo ...
Incomparable Sun-Times columnist/TV journalist/commentator Carol Marin wants her readers to know nothing would have kept her from covering Blago’s sentencing — except surgery and a new titanium knee. She’s doing great.
Mitt’s Rock ...
Tune Trail: Mitt Romney’s campaign theme song: a patriotic tune by fellow Michigander Kid Rock titled “Born Free.”

Actor Alec Baldwin, who was booted off an American Airlines flight Tuesday for being obstreperous after being told to shut off his cell phone while playing Words With Friends, should have been an investor in the company: At last peek, at least 300,000 more people signed up to play the game.
The Women’s room ...
Actress Demi Moore has had a lot on her plate lately. Not only has she filed for divorce from her ever so much younger/errant hubby, Ashton Kutcher, but the woman Demi liked to introduce as her mother — her AA counselor Patsy Rugg — just died.
