Dateline: The Final Flip? -- Sneed is told former Dem presidential contender John Edwards changed his mind recently about endorsing Hillary Clinton.
• • The flipside: But the latest backlash over Barack Obama's ex-pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, may lead Edwards back into the Hillary fold again.
• • Quoth a top Edwards source: "John [Edwards] is all about the little people --and himself. He's been advised to hold out for the bigger stuff -- and he would love to be attorney general or have a big role in the Cabinet. He was talked out of endorsing Hillary a few weeks ago, but who knows now. It's all up in the air."
Record 'em: Obama's renunciation of Rev. Wright is highlighted with this little item: Obama was reportedly so enthralled with Wright's sermons he took recordings of them to law school, according to the New York Times.
Scout 'em: Now comes word first daughter Jenna Bush, who is getting hitched at the family compound in Texas this month, is marrying an Eagle Scout.
• • Nix 'em: Jenna's fiance, Henry Hager, is reportedly so old fashioned he's requesting no pictures be released of her Oscar de la Renta wedding gown -- because he doesn't want to see it before the ceremony.
Civil rights martyr Emmett Till may have been murdered in 1955, but friends and family who survived him will be front and center at the Goodman Theatre Monday night to watch "The Ballad of Emmett Till" unfold.
• • Family: Till's cousin, Wheeler Parker, who was sleeping in the same farmhouse as Till the night he was abducted and killed in Money, Miss., will be there. And distant cousin Heloise Woods-Aldridge is preparing for a big cry. She received a letter from Till shortly before he left Chicago for Mississippi, which contained some circus tickets he gave her. She never saw him again.
• • Friends: Two of Till's elementary schoolmates, Carol Adkins and Anita Cochran, will also be there. (The school, James McCosh Academy, has since been renamed the Emmett Till Academy.)
• • A history note: Two men were initially charged in Till's murder but were acquitted by an all-white jury. Fresh information in the case, including revelations from a documentary film by Keith Beauchamp, prompted the Justice Department to reopen the investigation -- and in 2005, 50 years after the murder, Till's body was exhumed from an Alsip cemetery in search of new evidence. But a Mississippi grand jury decided in 2007 there was not enough evidence to support new charges.
"Star Wars" woo woo: Actress Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia in the legendary epic, just told Brit TV she had a crush on co-star Harrison Ford, with whom she became very friendly, if you get my drift.
Playwright Ifa Bayeza, director Oz Scott and set designer G. W. Mercier spotted taking a break from the world premiere production of "The Ballad of Emmett Till" to dine at La Scarola Monday night, where they were feted and toasted by Armando Vasquez . . . Film producer and Chicago native Robert Zemeckis spotted at Table Fifty-Two Sunday night . . . Frank "The Sopranos" Vincent, in town working on mob thriller "Chicago Overcoat," at La Rosetta.
