Rahm ’em . . .

It’s no coincidence two major international summits — NATO and the G-8 — will be held in Chicago at the same time next May.

◆ To wit: Sneed is told Mayor Rahm Emanuel personally corralled President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and White House Chief of Staff Bill Daley to set the location. It will be the first time the groups have met in the same city since London in 1978. If you are wondering how far Emanuel’s arm reaches, now you know.

$$$$$ . . .

Memo to the Sneed reader who felt compelled to defend Chicago Teachers Union leader Karen Lewis for not telling us her salary after thwacking Chicago Public Schools’ CEO Jean-Claude Brizard for not disclosing his paycheck.

◆ The reader opined: “All union officials have to disclose their compensation to the U.S. Department of Labor on a Form LM-2.”

◆ Really? Lewis hasn’t. Last week, when we asked Liz Brown, a CTU spokesman, why Lewis has not disclosed her salary on a Form LM-2, Brown responded: “I’m told she isn’t compelled to do so.”

The bad-boy file . . .

◆ Where’s Waldo? Errant hubby Arnold Schwarzenegger, who has been lying low since his former housekeeper unleashed the stork, has shown up in his native Austria
. . . where he is reconnecting with his past.

◆ Where’s Weiner? Apparently grocery shopping for spinach. Former U.S. Congressman/sexter Anthony Weiner and wife, Huma Abedin, were spotted picking up spinach in a Whole Foods store in the D.C. area Tuesday night, according to a report in the Washington Post, which claimed they looked casual. He was wearing a baseball cap. She was smiling. He pushed the cart with one arm and wrapped the other around her. There ya go. All over.

The royal set . . .

◆ Gift thrift: A fund set up by Prince William and Catherine (nee Middleton) to receive donations instead of wedding gifts has raised more than $1.7 million for 26 charities.

◆ Wrong rack: Fourteen of the late Princess Diana’s dresses, which were bought by a Tampa businesswoman hoping to exhibit them around the world, will be going to auction in Canada. The couture cache includes the dress she wore when she danced with John Travolta.

The Grammar hammer . . .

All’s “Quite” on the royal front?

Prince William’s bride, Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, is not immune from public penmanship scrutiny.

◆ Translation: The Brit press are having a field day noting that a letter written by Kate in 2009 to the All England Club, which is now housed in the Wimbledon museum, contains an error: The word “quiet” is spelled “quite.”

The Biden beat . . .

Vrooom Dooom: Thousands of rush-hour commuters sidelined on the Kennedy Expy. were not cheering when veep Joe Biden’s motorcade swept by en route to a private fund-raiser at Navy Pier on Tuesday.

◆ Quipped NPR’s hilarious “Wait Wait . . . Don’t Tell Me!” emcee Peter Sagal: Biden had the power to “create vast swaths of Republicans” stalled by the motorcade.

Not knot news . . .

In case you didn’t already know, actor George “I’m never getting married again” Clooney, 50, and his Italian girlfriend, Elisabetta Canalis, 32, are kaput. Of course you knew. You didn’t think for one minute Clooney was asking for Elisabetta’s hand in marriage when he met her Italian folks last year? Perhaps you thought Elisabetta’s father was giving Clooney the old “dead meat if you don’t do the right thing” talk? Remember the look in Clooney’s face when the photogs caught him with mama and papa? Surprised he didn’t run then.

Tee-hee . . .

Now comes word Northern Ireland’s new U.S. Open champion, Rory McIlroy, 22, may have had a premonition he would win some day. When he was a child, the BBC reported, he signed a golf card at his home club in Holywood, County Down: “Rory McIlroy, US Open Champion.”

Sneedlings . . .

Today’s birthdays: Frances McDormand, 54; Clarence Thomas, 63; Selma Blair, 39, and Jesse White, ageless.
