The Jackson file. . .

The hottest rumor to come down the political pike: Speculation President Barack Obama may pardon former Ald. Sandi Jackson before he leaves office in January 2017.

◆ Fact: Sandi’s hubby, former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., is scheduled to begin serving 30 months in federal prison around Nov. 1 for corruption.

◆ Fact: Sandi is scheduled to report to prison for one year on a tax evasion conviction no more than 30 days after the completion of her husband’s sentence.

Interesting timing. However, if the president waited until the last minute to pardon her, she would have already served half of her time.

Stay tuned.

Two little words. . .

Sneed has learned Rahm Emanuel and Barack Obama once used a code to break the tension facing them every day in the White House.

It consisted of two words: White and medium.

◆ Rahm, known as Obama’s toughest gatekeeper when he was White House chief of staff during the president’s first term, would pause in the middle of a crisis, look at the president, and state: “White.”

◆ Obama would then pause. . . look at Rahm, and say: “Medium.”

◆ Translation: During the overwhelmingly tense early days of Obama’s presidency, both men joked about making life simple by opening a T-shirt shack in Hawaii, and keeping things even simpler by only selling shirts in one size and one color: white and medium.

“They were dealing with health care, the financial crisis and Afghanistan,” said Mayor Emanuel’s press secretary, Sarah Hamilton. “So, they used it as a way of cutting the tension. Of course, no one knew what they heck they were talking about.”

I guess we do now.

Face flop????

Hmmm. Has Secretary of State John Kerry’s face collapsed?

Is Sneed smoking posies or has Kerry, 69, undergone a dramatic face change? His entire face seems flatter, wider, wrinkle-free — almost without definition — during recent press conferences Sneed watched while on vacation last week.

Now comes word Kerry’s spokesman Glen Johnson has fielded press inquiries on the pol’s facial change and credits it to non-stop work.

Hmm. Botox? Lack of sleep? Minor cosmetic surgery? A medical condition involving facial nerves?

Check out the past and present photos.

It’s no shocker. . . but watch for Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White to formally announce his candidacy for a historic fifth term at a news conference in Chicago next Thursday after an introduction by Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

The Kate dossier. . .

Here’s some yummy tidbits from author Katie Nicholl’s new book on Kate Middleton, “The Future Queen,” excerpted in the October Vanity Fair magazine.

◆ Kate’s royal baby George slept in the same room as his parents during the early weeks after his birth, ensconced in a “Moses” basket by Kate’s side of the bed.

◆ Kate drank her mom Carole’s fruit smoothies, ate home-cooked meals and her favorite muesli bars after she came home with the baby.

◆ Kate and hubby Prince William opted not to hire a nanny or maternity nurse so they could care for George in the early days themselves.

I spy. . .

Recent food groups spotted while Sneed was on vacation: Actor Christian Slater and comedian Steve Harvey brunching at RL at separate tables; Bears quarterback Jay Cutler hosted teammates Matt Forte, Josh McCown, Alshon Jeffery and Martellus Bennett Aug. 28 at Chicago Cut; NBA great Charles Barkley was heard telling Chicago Cut Steakhouse owner David Flom he is starting “to explore the opportunity to be a general manager of an NBA team.”

Sneedlings. . .

Saturday’s birthdays: Gloria Gaynor, 64; Chrissie Hynde, 62, and Shannon Elizabeth, 40. . . Sunday’s birthdays: Pink, 34; David Arquette, 42, and happy belated to Pinkie Hegwood, 80.
