Waiting game The Stroger file . . .

October 29, 2009

He hasn't filed yet!

Hmmm: Wondering why beleaguered Cook County Board President Todd Stroger has yet to file his nominating petitions for re-election?

Is it because he is having difficulty getting signatures on his nominating petitions?

Nope.

Sneed hears Stroger plans to file at the last minute Monday -- in hopes of being listed at the bottom of the ticket!

"It the best place to be if you don't want to deal with a lottery/flip of the coin for first place on the ticket, which his four opponents -- who have already filed -- will have to face," said a top source.

Trust me ...

A candidate named "Jesse Outlaw" has filed for a Cook County Circuit Court judgeship.

The Palin file . . .

Bang! Bang! Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is truly "Going Rogue."

u To wit: Palin lists the gift of a limited-edition single-action revolver in a personal financial disclosure statement filed with the Alaska Public Offices Commission!

u There's more: Palin also claims she obtained $4,250 in Yankees tickets in June from former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

u $$$$: The disclosure statement, which covered her last seven months in office, shows she and her hubby, Todd Palin, an oil production operator and commercial fisherman, were close in salary (She: $79,000/He: $69,800) -- although his earnings include $3,500 won in the Iron Dog Race.

Rice paper ...

Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has a chunk of Saddam Hussein's toppled palace on her office desk at Stanford University.

Nader un-noticed . . .

A note from a reader recently:

"Happened upon [consumer activist/former presidential hopeful] Ralph Nader signing books at Barbara's Bookstore at O'Hare (Terminal 1). Interesting that most people walked on by without even recognizing him."

A Jackson memo ...

In case you missed it, the late singer Michael Jackson's sister, LaToya, told the Brit press his children are now in therapy. Don'tchathink?

Holy Hogwarts!

He's investing in America! Actor Daniel "Harry Potter" Radcliffe, 20, whose worth from film fame is estimated at $32 million, just bought his third property in New York City for $6.4 million.

u Various reports claim Radcliffe's Big Apple properties now total more than $16 million. He also has a flat in London.

The Ax Man . . .

Presidential adviser David Axelrod, who hits town Friday to attend the Chicago premiere of the HBO documentary "By the People: The Election of Barack Obama," quietly slipped into town earlier this month to attend a very special gathering.

u To wit: Axelrod, a former Chicago political reporter, attended a reunion of reporters who worked for the Chicago Tribune from 1966-1976 . . . also dubbed 'The Golden Age" of Chicago journalism.

I spy . . .

Stevie Wonder napping in the first class seats of a Chicago bound United Airlines flight from L.A. last Wednesday. "He had an in-flight meal, never removed his iPod headphones and his entourage also flew first class," said a Sneed source. . . . Actress Bebe Neuwirth, who will star in the musical "The Addams Family" at the Oriental Theatre next month, touring legendary architect Frank Lloyd Wright's Oak Park home Sunday.

Sneedlings . . .

Today's birthdays: Winona Ryder, 38; Richard Dreyfuss, 62.
