FILE - This July 13, 2011, file photo, provided by the International Security Assistance Force's Flickr website shows the former Commander of International Security Assistance Force and U.S. Forces-Afghanistan Gen. Davis Petraeus, left, shaking hands with Paula Broadwell, co-author of his biography "All In: The Education of General David Petraeus." A person close to Broadwell says she deeply regrets the damage thatís been done from her affair with now-ex-CIA chief Petraeus, and she is trying to repair that and move forward. Former Ald. Ambrosio Medrano, a convict who just got indicted by the feds in a bribery scheme, just got dinged again. ◆To wit: This time, Medrano got ticketed and fined $500 for using a disability placard il legally Tuesday.◆The kicker: Medrano managed to get stung three days before Secretary of State Jesse White ramped up a major crackdown Friday on hand icapped parking placard abusers.◆The upshot: Medrano, who works at McCormick Place and parks his car in the vicinity, was caught after a secretary of state policeman looked up the placard and saw that it belongs to Medrano’s 99-year-old mother-in-law. Medrano is listed a s a driver for her in the placard registration. ◆The buckshot: The police officer told Medrano hi s mother-in-law had to be in the car for him to use the placard.◆The quick shot: When asked why he did it, Medrano reportedly told the police officer: “It’s too easy for me to do.”
The Ryan report...
Former Gov. George Ryan will spend his last Christmas in prison because it’s expected he’ll be released sometime early next year. The family of Ryan, who lost his beloved wife Lura Lynn to cancer while serving his 6 ½ year sentence at a Terre Haute, Ind. federal facility, is praying he might be home for the holidays.
Separated at a later birth? Check out these side-by-side shots of former CIA director/General David Petraeus and Dr. Scott Broadwell, the husband of Petraeus’ mistress Paula Broadwell, who is reportedly desperately trying to save her marriage.
Sneedless to say, doesn’t Broadwell’s spouse look like a younger version of Petraeus? Or is Sneed smoking posies?
Reality star Kim Kardashian is still reeling form gett ing dissed by royal fashion plate Kate Middleton during a recent trip to London.◆The first slap: Kate turned down Kim’s invite to tea.◆The second slap: The Brit press reported Kate returned a number of dresses Kim sent her from her Kardashian Kollection clothing line. Kim is still furiously denying the report.
The Ax man...
Top Obama advisor David Axelrod’s mustache is getting itchy. Since we last checked in, he is now only $400,000 -- and nine days -- away from shaving it off in the name of epilepsy research.
Quoth Axelrod: “I’m beginning to feel the cool breeze on my upper lip! With what’s in the pipeline, $600,000, which is great for less than two weeks. Still need help at slashthestache.com. But I think we’ll make it by a whisker!”
Washington wags are still whispering about President Barack Obama’s r eported quip to a Thai monk that Hillary Clinton would be the next president -- during a recent trip to Bangkok.◆To all those who thin k Clinton, 65, who will be 69, if elected if she decides to run in the 2016 election, is too old to be president: Think again.◆To wit: Indomitable former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir was 71 when she was elected.
The Quinn bin...
Isn’t that awkward? Sneed hears at a recent holiday bash tossed by PR whiz Thom Serafin, a number of people who want Gov. Pat Quinn’s job mingled with… the governor himself!
◆Translation: Gov hopefuls like State Sen. Kirk Dillard and State Treasurer Dan Rutherford hung out with Quinn at Serafin’s popular press/pol get together at Butch McGuire’s last week.
