A new poll shows most Illinoisans don’t approve of the job Gov. Pat Quinn is doing. He has a 35.5 percent approval rating in the poll conducted by the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute at Southern Illinois University.
Only 14.9 percent of those polled say Illinois is headed in the right direction.
The former lieutenant governor inherited the job in 2009 when Rod Blagojevich was impeached and removed from the office. Quinn won a four-year term in 2010.
Illinois has struggled under crushing financial difficulties since Quinn took office, some he inherited and others made worse by a national recession.
The phone poll of 1,000 voters has an error margin of 3 percentage points. AP
