His kids support him, Peterson's publicist says

'We miss our dad and are praying for his release every day'

May 11, 2009

The now-jailed Drew Peterson has the support of his children, according to statement his publicist released today from Peterson's eldest son, Steve Peterson.

"All of the children of Drew Peterson fully support their father and know that he is innocent of the charges against him," the statement said. "We know him better than anyone else in the world, and we know he is not guilty.

"My younger brothers and sister, Chris, Tom, Anthony and Lacy, are staying with me. We miss our dad and are praying for his release every day." Peterson, a former Bolingbrook police sergeant, was arrested Thursday and charged with murder in the death of his third wife, Kathleen Savio. Savio is the mother of two of Peterson's children ‹ Kristopher and Tom.

The two teenagers appeared with Peterson on a morning news program in April.

"I highly do not believe that my dad had murdered my mom," the 16-year-old Thomas Peterson said then. "Because, first off, he wasn't there, he was with us during that period of time. I don't know what else to say. I don't believe it."
