Updated: November 15, 2013 6:19AM

SAN DIEGO — Tony Seau, the youngest brother of former San Diego Chargers linebacker Junior Seau, has died. He was 36.

The younger Seau died Thursday at a San Diego-area hospital. The cause of death wasn’t released.

Tony Seau played football at Palomar College in San Marcos and Eastern Washington University. But he had off-the-field problems. He pleaded guilty in 1993 to attempted murder in a gang-related attack that wounded a man. He served time at the California Youth Authority.

While at Eastern Washington in 2002, he was shot in the head during a gang-fueled argument at a party.

Junior Seau died at age 43 of a self-inflicted gunshot in 2012. AP
