Minn. teen uses Facebook to alert police of man attacking his mom

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — When a 15-year-old boy heard his mother’s cries for help as she was attacked in her St. Paul home, he feared her assailant would hear him call police.

Instead, he used his cell phone to post a message for help on Facebook. A friend saw it and called police.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that the victim’s boyfriend, 31-year-old Reggie LeAndrew Hart, has been charged with domestic assault and interference with a 911 call. A criminal complaint says the victim, 33-year-old Kelly Heinl, had told her son to call police when Hart allegedly began abusing her, but Hart took their cell phones. It says the boy convinced Hart to return his phone. That’s when he got on Facebook.

Hart denies causing Heinl to cry or scream and blamed the incident on her drinking. Hart was convicted of murdering the boy’s father in 1998, who is also Hart’s cousin.
