CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) — Police say they found a drawing of a game involving a serial killer in the apartment of Colorado theater shooting defendant James Holmes.

Detective Thomas Wilson testified Wednesday the drawing was found in a spiral notebook inside a backpack. He described it as “some kind of maze game” and said it involved an address in downtown Denver.

He wasn’t asked to elaborate.

It was the first mention of the drawing in the 14 months since the shootings, which killed 12 and injured 70.

Holmes pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to multiple counts of murder and attempted murder.

Wednesday’s hearing is focused on whether evidence found in Holmes’ apartment can be used at his trial. Prosecutors say the search was illegal because it began before police got a search warrant.
