TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — The Muscular Dystrophy Association, the sponsor of the decades-old Labor Day weekend telethon, plans to move its national office to Chicago from Tucson.
Spokeswoman Roxan Olivas says the nonprofit group will sell its Tucson office building but still keep a considerable presence in the southern Arizona city after the national office moves in 2014.
Most of the association’s 110 employees in Tucson will continue to work in Tucson in leased space, while 15 to 20 workers will be relocated to other locations such as Chicago.
The MDA was founded in 1950. It moved its national headquarters to Tucson from New York in 1991.
