CAMBRIDGE, Ill. (AP) — A west-central Illinois woman has pleaded guilty to accidentally shooting her husband to death.

Court records show 29-year-old Robin Atchison of Alpha pleaded guilty Tuesday to involuntary manslaughter, possession of a weapon by a felon and obstruction of justice. Another obstruction of justice charge was dropped in exchange for her guilty plea in the April death of her husband, 21-year-old Trevor Atchison.

Robin Atchison was sentenced to 10 years in prison as part of the plea deal. She was to go to trial later this month.

Prosecutors say she thought the weapon’s safety was on. Atchison is accused of hiding the rifle and discarding a spent ammunition cartridge.

Alpha is a village of 670 residents in Henry County, about 25 miles south of Moline.
