Deputies: Ariz. mom burned son, 2, on stove

PHOENIX (AP) — An Arizona woman is facing charges after authorities say she burned her 2-year-old son on a hot stove because he wet himself.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office says 26-year-old Anna Elena Ochoa was arrested Friday on suspicion of child abuse.

According to deputies, the Gila Bend woman said she burned her son by holding him over the electric stove, but she claimed to not know for how long and did not tend to his injuries.

Detectives say the boy had severe burns on his buttocks, bruises on his lower back and blisters on his lips and fingers.

Officials say Ochoa told detectives that she was frustrated with her son for frequently wetting himself.

It was not known if she had an attorney.
