RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — A North Carolina political strategist who died this week after being stabbed in her home is being remembered by family, friends and political allies at a church service and a Democratic Party dinner.
A memorial service was held Saturday at a Raleigh Baptist church for Jamie Kirk Hahn, who died Wednesday. Police say the 29-year-old and her husband were stabbed Monday. Authorities charged the best man at the couple’s wedding in the assault. Suspect Jonathan Broyhill has been hospitalized.
Police haven’t given a motive. Former U.S. Rep. Brad Miller says there are questionable campaign reports Broyhill made while working for his campaign through Hahn’s consulting firm.
Hahn’s husband, Nation, said at Saturday’s memorial service that his wife loved politics because she wanted to help the less fortunate.
