EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. — A southwestern Illinois man has been ordered to spend nine years in prison for what jurors concluded was his videotaped sexual assault on a female acquaintance. The assault occurred after he rendered the woman unconscious with a so-called “date rape” drug.
Bryron Skalisius, 51, of Troy was sentenced Monday in Madison County, where he was convicted in December of criminal sexual assault and unauthorized video recording.
Authorities say Skalisius assaulted the former co-worker in June 2009 at her Glen Carbon home by placing the drug in one of her drinks. The victim had no memory of the attack.
Prosecutors sought a 16-year prison sentence for Skalisius.
