KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Southwestern Michigan authorities have charged a man with killing a 59-year-old Kalamazoo woman nearly 20 years ago.
Kalamazoo Public Safety officials say Grady Shields, 43, was charged Monday with felony murder and open murder in connection with the shooting death of Lois Cox in October 1993. She disappeared in Kalamazoo on Oct. 20 of that year and her body was found six days later inside her vehicle about 20 miles south in Three Rivers.
WOOD-TV reports Shields is serving a 15-to-25-year prison sentence for an armed robbery he committed two weeks after Cox’s body was found. He is scheduled to be arraigned in a Kalamazoo court April 24.
MLive.com reports Cox vanished after arriving at the industrial sales business she owned.
