INDIANAPOLIS — The leader of the Indiana House will miss at least the next week of the legislative session while he recovers from surgery for a knee infection.
Officials say Republican Speaker Brian Bosma learned from tests Monday that an infection had developed from an artificial knee replacement he underwent last summer and needed immediate surgery.
Speaker Pro Tem Eric Turner says Bosma’s surgery Tuesday went well and caught the infection early.
Bosma wasn’t present in the House on Monday.
Turner says Bosma is expected to be out until at least late next week. Bosma will be absent as the General Assembly heads toward its late April adjournment deadline.
Major items still being debated include the new state budget and Republican Gov. Mike Pence’s proposed individual income tax cut.
