KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Police in Kalamazoo are seeking criminal charges against a 26-year-old mother after her three children were killed in a fire while left home alone.
Chief assistant prosecutor Carrie Klein on Tuesday told MLive.com the request for three counts of second-degree child abuse was submitted Friday and is being reviewed.
Three-year-old twins, Te’Niya and Tevin Williams, and their 1-year-old sister, Tyonna Henderson, died in the blaze Feb. 18 in a unit at the Interfaith Apartments. They were left with their 4-year-old sister.
Fire officials have said the fire was intentionally set.
Jonetta Woods faces a trial May 14 in family court related to the children being left alone in the apartment.
