U.S. newspaper circulation down 10.6 percent
The average daily circulation at U.S. newspapers plunged 10.6 percent in the April-September period from the same six-month stretch last year, according to figures released Monday by the Audit Bureau of Circulations.
The Chicago Sun-Times' Monday-through-Friday average circulation fell 12 percent; it raised its single-copy price from 50 cents to 75 cents March 30. The Sun-Times' Sunday circulation slipped 1.8 percent, compared with the industry average decline of 7.5 percent.
