Hostess fans stock up during ‘holy quest to find the Twinkie’

There was a run on Twinkies Friday morning.
And Ho Hos and Suzi Q’s and all things Hostess for that matter.
After the company announced Friday it was closing down and liquidating, fans of the snacks hit the streets to load up around the region.
Many left disappointed.
“I came to buy the bread and their cakes. There were no Twinkies or Ho Hos; the shelves were pretty empty. All I walked out with was some soup,” said Norma Gilbertson, of Portage, Ind., who went out to the Wonder Hostess Bakery Thrift Shop in Hobart on Friday.
Lisa Kemp of Carpentersville and a friend were on a quest Friday — looking for stores in the area that still had Hostess snacks.
They went to the Jewel in West Dundee and bought out the Ho Hos. Then they met with a neighbor, Matthew Sikes, and headed to the Hostess outlet in Elgin.
“I am highly in favor of the holy quest to find the Twinkie,” Sikes said.
