PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh police say a 15-year-old carjacking suspect had to be treated at a hospital after a police dog bit the teen after he punched the canine in the face.
Police aren’t identifying the suspect, or a second teen they arrested Tuesday night, because they’re being charged in juvenile court.
Police say the carjacking happened Saturday but police didn’t catch up with the teens until three nights later when an officer spotted the stolen vehicle in the city’s Polish Hill neighborhood.
Police say one of the teens surrendered when officers pulled over the vehicle, but the other ran into the woods and was chased by officers and the police dog, identified as Lt. Lando.
The second teen will be charged with assaulting the canine officer and receiving stolen property for riding in the stolen car.
